Bleacher report The draft is upon us and that means it’s time to dig deeper into this mock of the 2017 NFL draft.
For the most part, the NFL Draft is a time of high-stakes drama, with the best of the best taking the field for the first time.
Here are the top 10 players to watch for, and where to find them.10.
Khalil Mack, DE, Oakland RaidersThe Oakland Raiders need help at defensive end, and Mack is the best option.
The 6-foot-4, 252-pound Mack has shown in the past that he’s a physical, relentless edge rusher, and he’s been an integral part of the Raiders defense since he arrived on the scene in 2016.
Mack’s versatility has helped him thrive, and with a strong showing at the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine, it looks like he’s in line for a big payday in free agency.
He’ll be the highest-paid defensive end on the market, and could potentially command an even bigger deal than the Raiders are willing to pay.9.
Jalen Ramsey, DE/OLB, Jacksonville JaguarsThe Jacksonville Jaguars need help in the middle of their defense, and Ramsey has been a big part of that.
Ramsey is the most dominant pass rusher in the NFL right now, and his athleticism and quickness is something that teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, and Carolina Panthers have struggled to stop.
Ramsey’s size will certainly help him make an impact, and the Jaguars could be looking at a massive contract with his size alone.8.
Malik McDowell, S, Oakland RaiderThe Oakland Raider secondary has been in flux for the past few seasons, and McDowell’s arrival at free agency in free fall could change that.
McDowell was a key piece of a defense that was in transition at the start of the year, but his development since then has been the reason why the Raiders’ defense has been able to win more games than any other team in the league.
McDowles production has been sensational, and there’s no reason he can’t be a top-tier defender in free agent negotiations.7.
Jonathan Allen, OT, New Orleans SaintsThe Saints’ offensive line has been among the worst in the entire league, but Allen has been one of the most valuable players for the team.
Allen has the athleticism to play inside or out and has the ability to play on both sides of the ball.
He’s also one of those players who can make the best plays in any given game, and has shown that this year.
Allen is also a versatile player who can play tackle, guard, center, and tackle for loss.6.
Jordan Matthews, WR, Tennessee TitansIt’s tough to rank a player like Matthews, but the Tennessee Titans have had some of the league’s best receivers in years, and Matthews could be one of them.
Matthews is the type of versatile player that can excel at any position, and Tennessee will need a huge payday to sign him.5.
Tyreek Hill, RB, New York GiantsHill has had some big-play moments this year, and that’s no fluke.
He showed that he can be a consistent threat in the red zone this year after missing the first few weeks of the season due to injury.
The Giants need to be aggressive with Hill, and if they want to keep him, they’ll have to pay a hefty price.4.
Ryan Ramczyk, OT/OG, Chicago BearsIt’s been a wild offseason for the Chicago Bears, and Ramczyks arrival to the team was a major surprise.
The offensive line in Chicago has been terrible this year and the offensive line overall in general, and while Ramczes arrival will make the offensive tackle position a much better one, it will also mean the end of one of Chicago’s best offensive linemen, Brian Winters.
Ramczyzes versatility is something teams have struggled with all year long, and it will help the Bears win games at a high level.3.
DeAndre Hopkins, WR/TE, Houston TexansThe Houston Texans have had an extremely productive offense this year that has been consistent at the top of the NFL, and Hopkins is one of that elite receivers.
The former UCLA star was able to consistently be a part of their offense in the postseason, and is currently averaging almost 30 yards per reception this season.
Hopkins could be a star for years to come, and this could be the best year of his career.2.
Josh Doctson, WR (WR/TE), Washington RedskinsThe Washington Redskins are looking to upgrade at wide receiver, and Doctson is one man that they should consider signing.
Doctson was a huge contributor to Washington’s offense in 2017, and will be one for years if he’s able to stay healthy.
Docts presence on the field will be huge for Washington’s chances to make the playoffs, and even if they do not, he will be an impact player
