Why the ‘cribble board’ meme is a fake
- by admin
The phrase “cribbble board” has become a meme among conservatives in the United States, with conservatives arguing that the meme is evidence of the president’s lack of leadership.
The phrase, coined by President Donald Trump in an April 2016 tweet, refers to the White House Office of the Press Secretary, where he and his staff discuss matters of policy and news and then make their comments available to the media.
A screenshot of the tweet showed Trump writing “The best of the White house is delivered to the crib,” followed by a quote from a quote of the late Senator John McCain, who was killed in the 2009 attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.
The meme gained currency on social media, with many conservatives arguing Trump had failed to lead the country to victory in 2016 and that the president is a lame duck.
The term has been used to mock the president on Twitter, including a video clip where Trump, who is blind, jokes about a tweet from the White in which the president says he’s done well with the “crowd” and then a meme of him looking at a pile of money he received as a reward for his work.
Trump has since deleted the tweet, but a cached version remains online.
In an article for The Hill, The Daily Caller reported that the phrase originated from a viral video posted on April 22, 2016, titled “President Trump just said he’s ‘done well’ with the crowd.”
A screenshot from the video showed Trump reading a statement on the White on April 23, 2016.
“Crowd, get ready for a new and exciting campaign,” Trump said in the statement.
“It will be a great year for America.
Now is the time to unite the country.”
“The president said that he is ‘done’ with crowds, which is a great thing.
But the problem is that the people are not getting what they want, and it is clear that we need to change this situation.
The American people are tired of being treated like second-class citizens,” the statement continued.
The Trump administration has repeatedly denied using the phrase, arguing it is just a joke.
The Daily Beast reported on Monday that the White had not heard of the phrase before April 22.
A cached version of the video, published by The Washington Examiner, shows that the clip appeared online before April 23.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In his April 22 tweet, Trump said the WhiteHouse was “just finished up” with the coronavirus pandemic, and that he was “still getting ready for another big election in November.”
The WhiteHouse has since been criticized for its handling of the pandemic and the deaths of its first two victims, Secretary of State John Kerry and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice.
A White House spokesperson told Bloomberg Businessweek in a statement that Trump was referring to the coronovirus outbreak and that there was nothing to report on the president.
